KOAMTAC Wearable, Companion, and SmartSled Barcode Scanners support scanning up to 10 meters (33 feet) Long Range

Select barcode readers in the KDC® and SKX families will be upgraded with Honeywell 8th Generation 2D Imager scan engines supporting an increased scan range of up to 10 meters (≈33 ft).

KOAMTAC® Inc., a leading manufacturer of Bluetooth companion barcode scanners, RFID Sleds, mPOS solutions, and enterprise charging solutions, will be upgrading the KDC180, KDC380, KDC485, and SKX6Pro with the latest Honeywell 8th Generation 2D Imager scan engine capable of reading barcodes from ranges up to 10 meters (33 ft).

The upgraded 8th generation 2D imager scan engine offers further read ranges to the already impressive performance of the KDC180, KDC380, KDC485, and SKX6Pro. This high-performance 2D imager simultaneously captures at near, mid, and far ranges with stellar efficiency, ensuring that the user has the perfect barcode scanning solution for scanning operations at any distance. Increased scan ranges are achieved by leveraging Honeywell advanced technology, enabling KDC® and SKX® scanners to read barcodes up to 10 meters (about 33 feet) away. The enhanced range increases user flexibility and empowers employees in many industries, especially warehousing, field services, and retail.

The KDC180, wearable Bluetooth® barcode scanner, is designed for use with the two-finger Ring Trigger or Safety Glove to create the perfect wearable solution for your business. KDC180 models are available with optional inductive charging, short-range UHF tag reading, or a keypad. The KDC180 will support both the Honeywell 7th Generation N6703 and 8th Generation N6803 2D Imager scan engines to enable normal, medium, and long-range reading applications.

KDC380 companion scanners serve as companions to a host phone, tablet, or computer. The KDC380 is lightweight, yet rugged, and suitable for use in various industries, including retail & distribution, warehousing, transport & logistics, healthcare, and field services. The KDC380 is a bit larger than other KOAMTAC companion scanners, but it is still suited for use virtually anywhere and can be easily carried, stored in pocket, or attached to a lanyard. KDC380 models will support Zebra laser scan engines as well as Honeywell 2D Imagers.

KOAMTAC KDC and SKX SmartSled® scanners are barcode sled scanners integrated with smart device cases. Additionally, SmartSled scanners are modular and allow a variety of companions enabling RFID reading, mobile point of sale, MSR card reading, increased battery power, and improved ergonomics. Both the KDC480 and SKX6Pro will be receiving upgraded scan engines enabling long-range scanning.

When asked about the scan engine upgrade, Dr. Hanjin Lee, President of KOAMTAC, said “the extra range achieved through this new 2D engine makes barcode scanning tasks even easier for many workers, especially those in warehousing and logistics. With a scan range of over 30 feet, your wearable or companion KDC, or SmartSled can capture barcodes on high stockroom shelves from a standing position. Workers can scan more efficiently while enjoying increased safety.”

KOAMTAC will display the XCover6 Pro charging solutions at NRF 2023: Retail’s Big Show in New York City, January 15-17, at booth 3146. Participants who would like to schedule a demo ahead of time may contact the team at info@koamtac.com or via phone at 609-256-4700.
